Review - The Mill Tavern - 03/06/02
Well I have to say I've seen these guys a few times and have
to admit I'm a fan. They're a good tight band and play a good solid
set which is chocca block of well done covers. The first thing that
hit me was Darren's Shirt !! Gone are the glow in the dark, bright
orange numbers, replaced by a rather plain white t-shirt, but in
his defence he was confused due to the gig being an afternoon kick-off
! However his vocals are good and powerful and a lot of bands would
benefit from this guy's talents, however, long may he remain where
he is !
Covers included good versions of Aerosmith's "Love in
an Elevator" and "Walk This Way", U2's
"New Years Day", The Police's "Walking
on the Moon" and although I enjoyed Skynyrd's "Sweet
Home Alabama" and ZZ's "Tush" I felt both
could have been stretched out giving more attention to Vinny and
his axe.....John's drums were loud and thunderous and this guy works
hard and along with Dean's technical skills on the Bass guitar they
combine to give the band heart and soul....Wild Cherry's "Play
That Funky Music" was a perfect example of this.
Best moment of this gig....Darren's sad but brave attempt to
lift Vinny on his shoulders during the AC/DC anthem "A Whole
lotta Rosie"....it had me in stitches......In conclusion,
if you like a good rock band and I do...you could do far worse than
checking these out...they enjoy themselves on stage and they're
keen to involve everyone.....One of the best bands on the circuit....
